At GiftOsphere, we believe that it is important to know where our products come from, who made them and under what conditions. As much as possible, GiftOsphere tries to find articles that have been manufactured using processes that are natural, organic and non-polluting, and purchased at a fair price from the original supplier. By the same token, we also try hard to pick products made from materials that have not been three times around the globe before getting here in order to limit the amount of fuel and wrapping materials used for transportation.
We also believe that it is economically and socially sound to support Canadian companies since it encourages local investing and job creation in our communities.
So that you can easily pinpoint which products are eco-friendly or made in Canada, we have added icons next to the name of the products in the descriptive pages.
In order for an article to be deemed eco-friendly, it has to have at least one of the following characteristics:
- Have been manufactured, at least in part, from materials that are natural, organic or non-polluting.
- Have been manufactured, at least in part, from post-consumer materials.
- Has been purchased in a fair trade context.
In order for an article to be deemed Made in Canada, it has to have at least one of the following characteristics
- Have been manufactured, at least in part, in Canada.
- In the case of a package or gift basket, must contain at least one product manufactured in Canada.
We assign the icons according to information that has been provided by the manufacturer or the distributor, and it is for informational purposes only. The information that we have may be inaccurate or incomplete; if that is the case, we apologize for any inconvenience.
